Sacramento Chesterton Society Meeting

February 14, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Our next meeting will be this evening. It will be at the usual time, right after the evening Mass at St. Stephen the First Martyr Catholic Church, approximately 7:30 pm in classroom 2 (or 3).

We are currently reading The Everlasting Man. This month we will be discussing Chapter 5 of Part II, “The Escape from Paganism“.

The Father Brown story we are reading is “The Donnington Affair”. This story was published in a British magazine in 1914, in two parts. The first part was written by Sir Max Pemberton, in which the mystery is set up. The following month, in part two, Chesterton has Father Brown solve the mystery. In searching for an online version of this two-part story, I found copies of Part Two all over the place. I could not find an online version of Part One.

Part Two is linked above. I have attached a pdf version of Part One to this email (which is nothing more than photos of Part One from my copy of the Collected Works). Part One is about 17 pages long.

This is the last month we will have a Fr. Brown story to read. After this we will start reading The Ballad of the White Horse. Now is the time to get a copy.

Pleasant reading,
