March 8, 2022 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Our March meeting will be held on March 8, after the 6:00 pm Mass in classroom 2 (or 3) at St. Stephen parish. The readings will be the next three chapters of The Ball and the Cross; that being chapter 7 – The Village of Grassley-in-the-Hole, chapter 8 – An Interlude of Argument and chapter 9 – A Scandal in the Village.
In addition, this month I will be adding an essay from Chesterton’s 1927 book The Catholic Church and Conversion. It is really a short little book of only 6 essays. As you might guess, Chesterton gives us all lots of little insights into his own conversion; and I think it might answer a lot of questions we have had about his conversion and religious background in our discussions about some of his other writings, notably Orthodoxy. I couldn’t find an online version of the book, so I am attaching a PDF copy of the Introduction and the first chapter of the book with this email. Incidentally, the Introduction was written, not by Chesterton, but by Hilaire Belloc.
