Chesterton Society Meeting (Click for details)

June 13, 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 13th, after the 6:00 pm Mass. We may start a few minutes late on account of the Fatima procession. For the month of June our readings are:

  • G. K. Chesterton, Autobiography, Chapter XI, The Shadow of the Sword
  • An essay, The Furrows, found in In Defense of Sanity, page 115.
  • An essay, The Meaning of Dreams, see Attachment below. Also found in In Defense of Sanity, page 118
  • And finally, the essay On Being Moved, see Attachment below. Also found on page 122 of In Defense of Sanity.

At the last meeting there was some discussion about Chesterton’s story, The Trees of Pride, and we said at the time we would read it for this month’s meeting; however, it is the length of a small novella. Because of the length we will postpone the reading of The Trees of Pride until the following month’s meeting, i.e., the July meeting. You can start reading it now, if you like, but we won’t discuss it until July.
