Our next meeting will be Tuesday evening, March 14th. It will be at the usual time, right after the evening Mass at St. Stephen the First Martyr Catholic Church, approximately 7:30 pm in classroom 2 (or 3).

Our next chapter of The Everlasting Man will be Chapter 6 of Part 2, The Five Deaths of the Faith.

We’re closing in fast on the end of The Everlasting Man. We still have this and next month’s chapter, which will be the conclusion and summary of the book.

This month we also start The Ballad of the White Horse.

An essay on Alfred the Great that Chesterton wrote on the occasion of the millenary of his death. (linked HERE)
The short Prefatory Note to Ballad of the White Horse, and
The poem of Dedication for the book, dedicated to his wife, Frances.

Also dip into the Ballad itself. Browse through it. Get used to the meter, the cadence and the rhyming scheme. We will prepare ourselves to better appreciate the Ballad of the White Horse by understanding who Alfred the Great is and his importance in the mind of Chesterton and the English people.
